1. **Is Marrakech safe for tourists right now?**
Yes – 100 %. In 2025, Marrakech is safer than most big European cities. Violent crime against tourists is extremely rare. The usual rules apply: don’t walk alone in empty alleys after 2 AM, keep valuables in a money belt in the souks, and use official red petit taxis or Careem/InDrive.
2. **How many days do I really need in Marrakech?**
3 full days is perfect for most people:
Day 1 – Medina classics (Jemaa el-Fnaa, souks, Bahia Palace)
Day 2 – Gueliz & Majorelle + Anima Gardens or hammam
Day 3 – Day trip (Atlas, Agafay, or Ourika)
Add a 4th day if you love shopping or want a cooking class.
3. **When is the best time to visit Marrakech?**
March–May and September–November → 20–30 °C, perfect weather.
Avoid June–August (40–47 °C) unless you only want pool time.
Winter (Dec–Feb) is lovely 18–22 °C but nights drop to 5–8 °C – pack a jacket.
4. **Should I stay inside the medina or in the new city (Gueliz/Hivernage)?**
First trip → stay inside the medina in a riad (the real Marrakech experience).
With kids, elderly, or if you want calm + pool → Gueliz or Hivernage (5–10 min taxi).
5. **How much cash should I bring and can I use cards?**
Bring €400–600 cash per person for a week (souks, tips, taxis, small restaurants).
Cards are widely accepted in riads, big restaurants, and shops with “CB” sign, but never in the souks.
6. **What’s the real price of things? (taxi, souvenirs, food)**
Airport → Medina taxi: 100–150 MAD (use official taxi or pre-book 250 MAD private)
Medina → Gueliz taxi: 20–40 MAD
Leather bag in souk: start bargaining at 50–60 % of first price
Street sandwich: 30–50 MAD | Restaurant tagine: 90–150 MAD
7. **Do I need to cover up / what should women wear?**
In the medina: shoulders and knees covered = zero hassle.
In Gueliz, Hivernage, hotels, pools → normal summer clothes fine.
A light scarf is the most useful item you’ll pack.

Yes – in most riads, big restaurants, bars, and hotels.
Carrefour supermarket (Gueliz) sells beer/wine for your riad.

9. **How do I avoid the “hustlers” and fake guides?**
Simply say a firm “la, shukran” (no thank you) and keep walking – they give up instantly.

10. **Can I do a day trip to the Sahara from Marrakech?**
No – real dunes (Merzouga) are 9–10 hours each way.
You’ll only get 1 hour in the desert and it’s exhausting.
